Difference Between IPhone 7 Plus And IPhone 8 Plus

iPhone X is still making noise in the market with its whole new package of technical brilliance. Though the phone costs a fortune, we are going crazy on its features and design. But didn’t we leave behind something big? iPhone X might be a statement product but it is not the biggest phone by Apple. iPhone 8 plus, a successor to iPhone 7 plus, with sturdy glass body is the heaviest and biggest smartphone Apple has ever made.
So let’s have a look at the difference between iPhone 7 plus, still an excellent product in the series and iPhone 8 plus.


As compared to iPhone 7 plus, its upgraded brother seems bulkier but with a fragile glass body (though the company assure you it’s the toughest glass any smartphone has ever had). The iPhone 8 plus is mounted with an all-glass design with an aero grade aluminium protection on the corners whereas iPhone 7 plus is housed in an aluminium body.

Both phones have IP67 rated dust and water-resistant.



Both the phones are designed with 5.5″ HD quality LCD retina display with 1920×1080 resolution, including 1300:1 contrast ratio, 3D Touch, Wide Color (P3) support, and 625 cd/m2 max brightness. A major difference here is the inclusion of True Tone Display for iPhone 8 plus, which adapts colour and intensity of the display automatically to match the colour temperature of the light in the surroundings.


The iPhone 8 plus has Apple’s 6-core A11 Bionic chip, comprising of a dual-core Neutral engine and a powerful M11 motion coprocessor. They are equipped with two performance cores 25% faster and four high efficiency cores 70% faster than the A10 fusion chipset in iPhone 7 plus and the older M10 processor. The A11 Bionic chip is the first from Apple to make use of its custom designed GPU.



Both the phones have dual 12 megapixels rear camera. The iPhone 8 plus uses new sensors with faster autofocus, detailed pixels and a better dynamic range. The primary lens in both the phones have the f/1.8 lens and the secondary telephoto lens have the f/2.8 lens.
Both the phones have a Quad-LED true tone flash, in which iPhone 8 plus with slow sync. The 7 megapixels facetime HD camera is same for both the cameras.


Both the phones have similar battery life with 60 hours of wireless audio playback and up to 14 hours of video playback, as per Apple’s testing. iPhone 8 plus is capable of fast charging, where the device can be charged to 50% battery life in 30 minutes using Apple’s 29W, 61W or 87W USB-C power adapters. The iPhone 8 Plus also supports Qi wireless charging which is missing in iPhone 7 plus.
Storage, Price and Colour variants
• iPhone 7 plus- Offers 3 GB RAM, with options of 32 GB ($669) and 128GB ($769) internal storage.
• iPhone 8 plus- Offers 3 GB RAM, with options of 64 GB ($779) and 256 GB ($949) internal storage.
The iPhone 7 plus is available in the following colour variants- jet black, black, silver, gold and rose gold, while iPhone 8 plus has lesser colour options- silver, space grey and gold.
